As of ROS Fuerte, the visualization_common stack is deprecated. We will transition to using Ogre as a system dependency starting in Groovy.

Documentation
visualization_common is a "common" stack for things that need OGRE and ogre_tools. It's contents include:
ogre (http://www.ogre3d.org/) is the 3D graphics engine used by rviz, nav_view and gazebo.
ogre_tools is an internal stack that provides no API stability guarantees.
New in Diamondback: visualization_msgs has been moved to common_msgs.
